Photo of Jamie speeding down a rope death slide in 1987

This photo shows Jamie nearing the bottom of a 170 foot rope death slide in 1987. The slide had been erected by the Royal Marines from the roof of the St Dunstans building at Ovingdean (near Brighton) down to the grass lawn below. The drop was around 170 feet and, although everyone had a safety harness for backup, all that was used was a short length of rope with loops at either end and a piece of wet sacking round the middle. Fortunately there were also 2 strong break men to slow people down at the bottom otherwise Jamie might still be being dug out of the lawn!
